Insurance internal review: building a stronger case

Draft guide to asking your insurer to review a declined or undervalued claim using the General Insurance Code of Practice timelines.

What an internal review needs

  • The claim number and decision letter
  • Why you think the decision is wrong (policy clause, valuation, evidence)
  • Any new information the insurer did not consider
  • The outcome you want — for example, full claim, partial claim, or revised valuation

Code of practice timelines

The General Insurance Code of Practice asks insurers to acknowledge complaints within one business day and respond within 30 calendar days. If the insurer misses these timelines you can escalate to AFCA.

Take action

Fairgo can take your timeline and policy wording and produce a structured review request. [Draft an internal review request](/resolve/voice?category=insurance) or [talk to a free legal service](/help) if your claim involves significant loss.
